Legendary guitarist Kirk Hammett recently joined Exodus (the band he was in before he joined Metallica) to perform live. We would imagine that it must have beeb exciting for Kirk to play with his old band. In fact Kirk has decided to be a guest and record a guitar solo for the song “Salt in the Wound” which is a new track being recorded for the new upcoming Exodus album. This is huge because Hammett was part of the band from 1980 – 1983 before replacing Dave Mustaine (who would end up starting Megadeth). in Metallica.
Kirk recently told Rolling Stone that “Me, recording a solo on their album was a huge thing for me,” Hammett adds. “Other than the Exodus demo that’s been heard by a lot of people, it’s the only time I ever recorded with Exodus. It was a huge thing for me.”
As far as Metallica is concerned they are still touring and playing summer shows where they have been introducing a new single called “Lords of Summer”. We recently got a chance to listen to this song and loved the energy. After all of these years Metallica still can kick ass! This new song has that old school Metallica vibe.
